Things you need

Making Small Tote Bag: 5-Step Quick and Easy Procedure
Step 1. Measure and cut the Fabric
First, measure and cut the fabric according to your desired dimensions. I am using dimensions of 10”x20” for a small tote bag.
Step 2. Fold and Stitch
Now fold the fabric from the center and stitch the sides of the fabric while keeping 1” from the top unstitched. Keep ½” stitch allowance while stitching and make a back inch towards the ends of both sides.
Step 3. Stitching the Top Edges
Now when you turn the inside out of your work, there would be 1” of unstitched opening on the top. Now, bend these remaining top 1” edges inward and press it to make a seam before stitching it. Keep ½” seam allowance from the top while stitching the top edges.
Step 4. Preparing Straps
Now you can make the straps of the tote bag if you want. I would be keeping the strap about 15” long. Therefore, take two long stripes fabrics of 4”x30”.
Fold the strip across its width, and you may use a pin along the sides of the folded strap. Now stitch the side of the straps along its length while keeping a ¼” stitch allowance. Tu inside-out of the strap, and your straps are ready.
Step 5. Stitching Straps onto the Bag
Place the straps on the bag’s inner side and stitch the strap’s edges with a ½” stitch allowance. You must position the position of this stitch over the previous stitch of the top edges.
Conclusion
Your tote bag is ready to be used or sold. After learning to make a small tote bag, you can easily make a tote bag of any size by using the same steps. Hope you get through these easy steps and manage to master this skill.
