5 Best Brother Embroidery Machines: Honest Review by User

Brother SE600: Cheap Best Brother Sewing Machine with Embroidery

4.7/5 Our Score

Specifications:

  • Sewing Speed: 400spm.
  • Embroidery Speed: 710spm.
  • Type: Sewing and Embroidery.
  • Weight: 26.2 pounds.
  • Built-in Stitches Designs: 103 Stitches
  • Built-in Stitches Designs: 80 Embroidery & 9 Fonts Designs.
  • Warranty: 25 Years Limited Warranty.
  • 4 x 4 Hoop Area.
  • 3.2 inch Touch Screen LCD.

Starting from the bestselling Brother PE600 that I had personally used for 3 years before I upgraded to Brother PE800, so I can give you a firsthand user review.

The first thing I can tell you is that this machine offers the best value for money as it is a dual-functional sewing and embroidery machine yet at an insanely economical price.

First of all, about the experience, as it weighs 26.2 pounds which gives it adequate weight to produce fewer vibrations. Thus the sewing and embroidery operation is highly smooth. Still, it’s not noise-free, especially during high-speed embroidery. But that’s how usual embroidery machines work.

Then I found its speed to be sufficient for personal and domestic usage. It has a maximum embroidery speed of 400 stitches per second and a stitch speed of 710 stitches per second. This speed is enough for day-to-day usage and smaller tasks and embroidery chores.

It has a 4″ x 4″ hoop size that I found comparatively smaller when compared to other machines on the list; still, this was large enough for my personal custom embroidery.

Now coming to its features, it has built-in 80 embroidery designs and 103 stitch designs which are sufficient, but the best part is that you can always import your custom design through the USP port. So, there are no limitations on designs for a custom embroidery enthusiast.

Accessories:

  • 8 Different presser feet.
  • Soft dust cover.
  • Bobbins and needle set.
  • Embroidery hoop.
  • Accessory pouch.
  • Cleaning brush
  • Spool caps.
  • Auxiliary spool pin.
  • Screwdriver.
  • Seam ripper.
Why We Liked it
  • Cheapest sewing and embroidery machine with high price value.
  • Interactive interface with touchscreen LCD.
  • Advanced features like memory storage.
  • Highly suitable for beginners and entry-level users.
  • Dual function: sewing and embroidery.
What we Disliked
  • Slower sewing and embroidery speed.
  • Comparatively noisy operation.
  • Embroidery size suitable for small to medium designs.

In short, this is the best brother sewing and embroidery machine for beginners and entry-level users who want an embroidery plus sewing machine for simple designs and embroidery.

Brother PE800: Best Brother Embroidery Machine

4.9/5 Our Score

Specifications:

  • Embroidery Speed: 650spm.
  • Type: Embroidery only.
  • Weight: 13.7 pounds.
  • Built-in Stitches Designs: 138 Embroidery & 11 Fonts Designs.
  • Warranty: 25 Years Limited Warranty.
  • 5 x 7 Hoop Area.
  • 3.2 inch Touch Screen LCD.

Now talking about PE800 that I am using currently, I found it to be the overall best brother embroidery machine. I am glad that after upgradation, my embroidery work became a lot easier.

First of all, this is an embroidery-only machine, which means that it cannot perform regular sewing operations, which was great for me as I already owned a separate sewing machine. So this saved a lot of time and effort that would be required otherwise to use a dual-function machine.

Also, this machine has many other improvements, like it has a bigger hoop size of 5” x 7” that can easily handle large-size embroidery projects. And to be honest, I found this embroidery area to be much larger than I needed.

Then, this machine has a greater number of built-in designs, i.e. 138 embroidery designs with 11 fonts, which is always better to have more. Still, the number of embroidery designs is never an issue with Brother, as you can always import your custom designs via the USP port.

Another impressive improvement is its even brighter work area with double LED lights, making it easier to work with darker colors.

Now regarding the performance, this machine works wonders. It has over 60% more embroidery speed of 650 stitches per minute, which is a much-needed upgrade. As other machines I used were much slower. This saved a lot of time and effort.

Also, this machine is also very smooth in operation with lesser vibrations, which makes this machine more convenient to use. Still, the machine is not noise free at high-speed embroidery, and that’s how embroidery machines are.

Accessory:

  • Embroidery hoop.
  • Embroidery foot.
  • Bobbin and needle set.
  • Cleaning brush.
  • Seam ripper.
  • Bobbin cover.
  • Screwdrivers.
  • Spool caps.
  • Soft accessory bag.
  • Dust cover.
Why We Liked it
  • Higher embroidery speed of 650spm.
  • Smoother operation with fewer vibrations and quality stitches.
  • Lightweight for portable use.
  • Suitable for beginners to experts.
  • Economical as an embroidery-only machine.
What we Disliked
  • Not suitable for heavy-duty operation on thicker fabrics.
  • Noisy when high embroidery speed over 600spm.

My own experience with this machine is enjoyable due to its high quality and many upgrades. In my opinion, it is one of the best brother embroidery machines, especially if you are the only embroidery machine and already have a separate sewing machine.

  • 5 x 7 Hoop Area.

  • Knee Lifter.

Now, coming to more advanced sewing and embroidery machine, i.e. SE1900. That has a much more practical usage due to many improvements as compared to the basic SE600 version at a very reasonable price.

The best thing I like about this machine is its incredible sewing speed of 850 stitches per minute, which is pretty decent and comparable to a standard sewing machine. Also, it can handle thicker fabrics more conveniently with more piercing power. Thus making is a sewing machine as well in a practical manner.

Then, it has a faster embroidery speed as well as 650 stitches per minute and a larger hoop size of 5” x 7”; again, much more practical and less time-consuming when it comes to embroidery.

The machine is also quite durable and more stable during operation due to its wider and heavier base. Beyond that, this machine has fewer vibrations and noise than other embroidery machines.

Accessory:

  • 8 Different presser feet.
  • Soft dust cover.
  • Bobbins and needle set.
  • Embroidery hoop.
  • Accessory pouch.
  • Scissors.

Now, if you are a sewing enthusiast looking for high-end features in an embroidery machine, then NQ-1700E is perhaps the perfect embroidery machine with many exclusive features.

The most significant difference is its higher embroidery speed of 850 spm and more powerful motor that makes it highly suitable for semi-commercial embroidery as well. Also, it has a 6″ x 10″ extra-large embroidery area, which is rare in such embroidery machines, making it suitable for extra larger clothes.

But the best thing I like about this machine is that it comes with free embroidery and lettering software – BES Blue, for your computer and a Grand Slam accessory pack that are much-needed tools for sewing enthusiasts.

Furthermore, another attractive thing about this machine is its extra-large touch screen LCD of 4.8” inches that displays your embroidery design with more clarity. While you have to strain your eyes to focus on smaller designs and fonts for smaller LCDs, this might be a great relief.

Besides the USP port, you can connect the machine with your mobile or computer through a wireless network, which is rare in embroidery machines. Though this is an embroidery-only machine, if you want a Brother sewing and embroidery machine combo, then this machine also offers a variation with NQ3600D.

If you are an absolute beginner in embroidery and looking for a cheap embroidery machine. In that case, PE535 is the best brother embroidery machine for you, costing just half of the average sewing and embroidery machine.

However, this doesn’t mean this machine is inferior in its embroidery features. It has 80 built-in design options with 9 language fonts with a USP import option. Also, it includes the same 3.2-inch touch screen LCD, which is the same as other costlier versions.

One of the best things I like about Brother embroidery machines is that they have some built-in memory, even in their cheapest modes. So, you don’t always have to plug in your USB or attach your laptop to use your designs.

Lastly, this machine doesn’t skip other features like an automatic needle threader and thread trimmer- making embroidering much faster and easier.

Buying Guide

There are plenty of things to remember when purchasing a good embroidery machine. We will discuss a few important ones down below:

Embroidery Area:

This might be obvious, but when buying an embroidery machine, you should always check its embroidery area. It depends upon the projects you are doing. If you usually work with larger surfaces like bags or t-shirts, buying a machine with a larger embroidery area will be better. If you don’t usually work on larger surfaces, we recommend you go for something like brother PE800. It all depends on what type of embroidery you would be doing.

Importing and design options:

Most embroidery machines come with premade patterns. These vary from device to device. Some machines can have good designs, while others have boring or rudimentary designs. In this case, it is helpful to have the ability to import your designs or downloaded designs to your machine. Before buying a machine, make sure it can connect to a pc or laptop. A USB port or Ethernet would be enough.

Display screen:

A good touchscreen display can drastically enhance your embroidering experience. The screen displays the preview of your designs. You can also change the size and edit your design from the screen. These machines come with different displays; for example, some may have multi-colored displays while others only show a few colors. A multi-colored display will show you a clear preview of the design, so you won’t need to look at your pc to get a preview.

Dual-function machine:

This is also something that depends on your preference. If you only want to buy a machine for embroidery, then purchasing a machine that can sew won’t do much good. However, if you do both, we would highly recommend you buy a device that does both of those together instead of purchasing separate machines for embroidery and sewing. A single machine with a dual function will give you more features and a better price.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

Conclusion:

To summarize, Brother has come with some of the best single-needle embroidery machines with a wide range to choose from. To buy the best brother embroidery machine per your peculiar usage, you must consider factors like embroidery area, speed, functionality, user interface, and design options.
Lastly, I hope my guide and review helped you select a suitable brother embroidery machine per your requirements. Take care.
