Making Doll Dress # 1: Halter Dress
First, take a 23cm x 23cm stretchy fabric
Fold it twice to make it a smaller square fabric
Place the doll’s neck at one of the corners of the fabric- making the neck a pivot, and mark an arc around its knees.
Now cut the fabric from the arc.
Now open the fabric, making it a semi-circle, and cut one side of the fabric to its center.
Now place the doll on the fabric as shown and mark the shoulders of the doll.
Make two small cuts at the shoulder markings.
Now pass the arms of the doll through those cuts and wrap the dress around the doll.
Now take a strip of fabric and tie it around the waist of the doll.
Your halter doll dress is ready.
Making Doll Dress # 2: Sari
Take a strip of dress and wrap its breasts. Then from the back, wrap it around its shoulders. And then tie it to the back of the doll.
Then you can either blue lace on the edges of the dress or can even tie it around the dress in the same manner.
Now take a square stretchy fabric and give it two folds.
Place the back of the doll on one edge of the dress, which acts as your pivot point. Then mark a curve along its ankles.
Cut the fabric along the marked curve. This will make a circular piece.
Cut out and open at the center of the fabric.
Now to add embellishments to the dress, you can hot-glue the lace around the dress.
Now pass the doll from the circular opening from its legs upto its waist.
Now you can again glue or tie lace around the waist area of the dress
Now all that is left is a shawl or scarf of the doll. For that, glue lace around a rectangular strip.
You can wrap the scarf around the doll as you like and either glue the scarf or use the arms of the doll to fix the scarf at a desired position.
Your doll is ready with an elegant sari dress.
Making Doll Dress # 3: Two-Piece Skirt
Now, dress number 3 is a more modern two-piece skirt, for which you need to follow the following steps.
First, make two folds of a 16”x16” stretchy fabric.
Pivot the doll’s back at one corner of the fabric and mark a curve around the knees of the doll
Now cut the fabric around the marked curve.
Also, cut the fabric from the corner to make an opening at the center of the dress.
Now pass the doll through this hole from its feet upto its waist.
Now for the top, take a piece of stretchy fabric of contrasting colors, and wrap it around the breast of the doll.
You may cut the excessive fabric from the back.
Your doll is ready with a two-piece shirt.
Concluding Remarks
Now as you have learned to make at least three different fancy doll dresses, you can make a variety of dresses using the same technique. You can also add more embellishments to the dresses to make them even prettier.
